How are you different from an Accountant?
As a BUSINESS GROWTH COACH I work alongside you in your business to support your daily financial and operational success. I work with you year round, not just at tax time. I take an indepth look at all aspects of your business, not just your finances. If you fail to address the root cause of the problems in your business they will continue, no matter what tweaks you make to the finances.
How are you different from other Business Coaches?
I show you what you (and your staff if applicable) need to do and how to do it, and I support you until you can do it on your own. I dont just give advice, stand back and expect you to implement everything on your own.
I am here to help and work with the business owners who recognise that they need to take some different action than what they have been taking in order to move forward. I do not mind the messy and complex businesses at all. I do not impose a minimum business size that I work with or a minimum turnover before you can engage my services.
We work together to create a plan that is unique to your business. I do not stand on the side lines and give you a ‘one size fits all’ program to implement and promise it will solve all your problems and your profits will escalate. That simply will not work
My blend of sports coaching with business experience is a powerful combination, arming me with the ability to both strategise and motivate business owners to success.
Can I afford you?
In short, YES YOU CAN! Clearly my expertise comes at a cost, but what we invariably find is that I am cost neutral or in fact ‘cost positive’…I save you money and I make you money!
Once we start unveiling the issues in your business and streamlining and refining it, we discover immediate efficiencies and savings - some are one-off expenses but many are ongoing, so the savings soon mount up.
Remember that I am also a temporary inclusion in your business to arm you with the tools to create momentum and give you the confidence to move forward on your own - that kind of empowerment and upskilling is invaluable. I give you new tools and skills that you will have for the rest of your life.
Can we have you help us for a few hours or a few days each week, or meet with you weekly/fortnightly or on a monthly basis?
The degree I work with you on your business is entirely up to you. Initally we conduct a high level health assessment of your business, just like when you have a check-up at the Doctors and then we narrow down the issues that are most impacting your business. From here we can work out the best course of action and tailor the level of support and frequency to your needs and your finances.
The goal is to equip you to continue on your own and reach the point where you only need me as a sounding board now and then to ensure that you are on-track.
Examples:
To make quick change and create momentum: Intensive support upfront (anything from 1-5 days per week) hands-on in the business, then tapering down to weekly, fortnightly, monthly or quarterly meetings with the owners to ensure that you are staying on track.
Finances are tight but you recognise that you need support to grow and you need it now: Depending on the issues that you need help with, this might look like a half day or 1-2 days per week hands-on in the business, or it may be a high level 2 hour weekly or fortnightly meeting with the business owners setting tasks for the upcoming week/fortnight and ensuring that steps are actively taken each week to move you forward.
We are not really a large enough business to justify a full or part-time (20 hours) Chief Operating Officer or similar role - can you fill that position for us temporarily or even longer?
YES I CAN! Have you heard of the term ‘Fractional Executive’? This is a term sometimes used for the role of a Chief Operating Officer (COO) or similar managerial position that takes a position in a company that is a 1/2 day a week, or 1 day a week, and it could be for a fixed term with a view to coming into the business to identify issues and coaching staff through change for a period of time to gain direction, structure and growth.
Will you help our staff develop skills?
Absolutely - If there is a key skill your staff are missing and I am able to teach them that skill without having to send them on an external course, then I will spend one-on-one time with them.
